Large International Entry
Eastern Creek 28 – 29 – 30 November is the place to be to see an amazing array of cars from around the world. With an expected entry of more than 400 racing cars, sedans and sports cars, there will be a large international presence expected to compete over the3 days of competition.
Historic Sports and Racing Car Association president, Mr Peter Addison said, “overseas interest in the 2nd running of this event has been very strong. The concept of the HSRCA’s 2006 1960s Tasman Revival meeting paying tribute to this golden era of Australian Motorsport has seen overseas interest consolidate into a huge entry.”
Along with 20 Formula 5000 cars from New Zealand and the USA, there are some other very significant cars coming from elsewhere as well.
From the United Kingdom, come 2 wonderful cars from the 1968 Tasman Championship, the Chris Amon driven Ferrari Dino V6 and the Pedro Rodriguez BRM P126 V12. The Ferrari in Amon’s hands came second in the Tasman Championship that year behind Jim Clark and will undoubtedly be one of the stars of the meeting
From the USA, David Jacobs is bringing his Brabham BT4. It was Brabham’s Tasman car in 1963 and Denny Hulme’s car in 1964, it is still amazingly original in its very distinctive blue livery. John Dimmer will also be returning with his Lotus 35, a car John’s sister drove in 2006.
From Japan there are 7 entries. After hearing about the 2006 event from a fellow Club member who competed in a friend’s MGB at the meeting, 7 enthusiastic single seat Historic racers decided to bring their cars to the meeting. These include Hideo Yoshikawa’s Brabham BT21 and 2 Lotuses along with 4 Formula Fords.
New Zealand will supply the bulk of the Formula 5000 cars, along with 6 others from the 1960s. Amongst these, Roger Munns is returning with his ex Jim Palmer BT22 Brabham and Lindsay O’Donnell with his McLaren M4A.
The scene is set for the Repco Tasman Revival to again put the premier Racing cars of the 60s and 70s back in the limelight, whilst not forgetting the ever popular touring and sports cars also competing - just as they did in the original Tasman Series.
